HOME PREP CHECKLIST

Exterior & Curb Appeal

● Move cars away from the driveway and front of the house.

● Hide garbage cans and recycling bins in the garage.

● Mow the lawn, trim bushes, and sweep walkways.

● Hide water hoses, lawn tools, and toys.

● Clean outdoor furniture and uncover the grill.

● Skim the pool and remove pool covers or floating toys.

Kitchen

● Clear all countertops and islands. Leave at most one or two decorative items.

● Stow small appliances, dish racks, soaps, and sponges.

● Empty the fridge of all magnets, photos, and notes.

● Hide dish towels and keep the sink empty.

Bathrooms

● Clear the counters of toothbrushes, soap dispensers, and pill bottles.

● Remove all shampoo, soap, and razors from the tub and shower.

● Put toilet seats down.

● Hang fresh, clean towels neatly on the towel racks.

Living Areas & Bedrooms

● Make all beds and arrange decorative pillows neatly.

● Hide remotes, video game consoles, and visible electrical cords.

● Remove personal photos and depersonalize the space.

● Turn off televisions to avoid black reflections in photos.

● Move anything that you do not want to see in the photos.

Lighting & Windows

● Open all blinds and curtains to let in natural light.

● Replace burned-out light bulbs.

● Turn on all lights (lamps, ceiling fans, and under-cabinet lights) for a warm glow.

● Turn off all ceiling fans to prevent motion blur in photos.

Pets

● Hide all pet supplies (bowls, beds, toys, and litter boxes).

● Take pets with you or securely contain them out of camera view.

Twilight/Night Shoots

● Turn on all lights inside and out! If landscape or pool lighting are on timers, adjust the timers to go on before the shoot.

● Open all Blinds shades, shutters and drapery

● Dark rooms: If a room has no lights, add a plug in lamp to light the room.

All of this is to be done prior to the Photographer arriving, NOT during the photo appointment!
